“Bear could hardly walk. Then, in just a few days, he was his old self again.” Susan Lloyd, Bear’s Owner Marlborough, Connecticut As a certified therapy dog, Bear has a very important job. Each week, he dispenses good cheer and affection when he visits nursing homes, like the one at Whitney Center in Hamden, Connecticut. But when he developed arthritis—the same ailment that troubles many of his human friends—his weekly rounds were nearly curtailed. Luckily for Bear, human disease isn’t the only area for which Pfizer searches for cures. Thanks to a treatment made possible by research in veterinary medicine, he was soon up and running again.
